Daily Meditation by Marco Pardo

Meditation for the Day

Sometimes when you are hiking or taking a walk, a little tiny rock will get stuck in your shoe. Even though the rock is quite small, it’s not long before it becomes very irritating. We try to ignore it for as long as we can, but soon it becomes obvious that the pebble is not going away. If we’re going to get comfortable and continue the walk, we need to take the time to get the tiny rock out of our shoe. Resentments function the very same way. Even the small ones can become that steady irritation that makes it too uncomfortable to be around certain people or to go to particular meetings. We try to play it off, but that knot in our stomachs tells us that we need to unload that resentment if we hope to be at peace again. Trying to ignore it will not get rid of that resentment. Working Step Four will. We can also write what we want to say to that person, and then read it to our sponsors. Writing and reading moves resentments, and restores us to our peace.

Prayer for the Day

I pray that I will be willing to admit to any resentments that I am still holding on to so that I can do the appropriate Step work. I ask God to help me to see my part in these various conflictive situations so I can clean up my side of the street.
